Tarifa range of tableware

We were tired of making do with glaze samples and seconds for our everyday use and Elizabeth decided to make a set of ware for our own use. We have Rukweza of course but this is always being reserved for special occasions. She wanted it to be new and different from our other pottery and so the adventure started and 'Tarifa' was born. The name Tarifa was decided over wine with friends - as it seemed to be something evolving from sun, sea and splashing waves.

Once we had started using it ourselves there was so much interest from friends that Elizabeth made more for the gallery....and the rest is history the 'Tarifa Range' now has its own life and followers.

The photographs show the range from its conception on the potter's wheel - the throwing, trimming, first firing, glazing and then the final firing and arriving on our table!
