Pottery tuition in one of the most beautiful regions of Andalucía. Olvera is the ‘king’ of the famous White Villages [los pueblos blancos] set in stunning countryside. The workshops are in a beautifully restored farmhouse set in its own grounds just one kilometre from the town. A week's course will include five days [Monday to Friday] individual tuition in the morning and a further time in the afternoon where you will have use of the studio with more general overseeing and advice. The day will start at 10am and continue until 2pm when we break for lunch which can be provided on request. Thus, you can choose to immerse yourself in clay for the full five days or take some time out to explore the area a little should you wish. Ronda, Jerez de la Frontera, Sevilla, Granada etc. are all within easy reach. It is also possible to bring a group/family for a day of fun in the studios with some souvenirs/results to remember the day! Please contact us for further details. |

Testimonials
We spent a week with Elizabeth and Jenny learning the basics of production pottery. We had asked for an introduction to throwing and turning of functional forms, and Elizabeth helped us lay a foundation of skills. By the end of a week, we gained competence with 1-2 pounds of clay and could throw cups, bowls, bottles, plates and other forms. Most importantly, she gave us a foundation to continue teaching ourselves. Since we had more time, we also followed our pots through the glazing and firing process, helped Elizabeth with some of her production glazing, and were able to ship our favourites home. Elizabeth and Jenny are immensely experienced potters and it was a such a privilege to learn from them. Being able to develop this new skill on a beautiful riverside finca, with thoughtful and experienced teachers, was a dream come true. Besides that, I don't think I've eaten so well in years, and had no shortage of laughter playing with the farm dogs and scratching donkey ears. It's a sort of paradise they have built. Thank you, thank you!Caleb and Becky, Colorado, USA
I spent a lovely day with Elizabeth in her studio. She is a very patient and clever teacher guiding me and allowing me to go at my own pace particularly whilst throwing on the wheel. The next best thing about it was that I had to go back to pick up my "creations " once they had been fired which was a fine excuse to spend more time in this little creative oasis. I can recommend you book a day or more with Elizabeth who is a brilliant potter and a great teacher.

I booked a pottery course with my sister for two days. I focused on centering the clay on the wheel and my sister preferred making things by hand. [hand building]. Elizabeth is a great teacher with a lot of patience and very professional skills to guide us through our first steps in ceramics. It was an amazing experience. Time was gone without knowing and realizing that we were busy for three hours and that it was already lunch time – provided as part of the course.
That afternoon and the next day we continued our “art work” and were very proud of the things we made. I was able to make for the first time a pot on the wheel!!
We loved your hospitality and loving care for us as starting potters. We learned great lessons. It is like learning biking or skating. You never forget it!!
Thanks for everything. A big kiss from Elly and Kees. Spain and Holland
Elizabeth and Jenny live in a small paradise deep in the heart of Andalucía. Dogs, cats, birds, flowers vegetables and of course a pottery.
Elizabeth is a master potter. She has way of making you feel that you can achieve everything. Warm patient and disciplined in execution...a great combination. She only takes 1 or 2 potters at a time and gives absolute attention to all you do. This combined with an exploration of all techniques and possibilities makes it a powerful learning journey. She works with people who are seriously wanting to learn skills and explore what it means to be a true potter.
It is fun and serious...intense and relaxing. WONDERFUL I will never forget my times with these special people. THANK YOU is not a big enough phrase to describe what the time I had means to me.

As a relative beginner to ceramics who was looking to improve my fundamentals in wheel throwing skills, my time at Artesanía del Prado was nothing short of exceptional. Elizabeth brings years of experience and sparkling wit to her instruction, ensuring that you are not only comfortable in building up your basic skills but also allowing you the freedom to explore various techniques and shapes using your freshly learned fundamentals.
The one-on-one instruction you receive, including throwing demos and theory, is an invaluable asset to continue your ceramics practice not only during your intensive but also once you've returned home.
Finally, the studio itself is nestled in a valley by Olvera, and a beautiful environment both aesthetically and through the personalities of Elizabeth and Jenny-- I had an unforgettable experience that I would recommend heartily to aspiring potters of any level looking to improve their practice.
